Apple roses are basically a dessert consisting of slices of apple placed on top of puff pastry to look like a rose.
We thought we should probably tell you how to make them, you know, in case you have some friends coming over for dinner and want to impress them.
One sheet of puff pastry sheet
Two red apples
Half a lemon
One tablespoon of flour
Three tablespoons of apricot jam
Icing sugar for decorating
Step 1: Core the apples and cut them in to thin slices
Step 2: Fill a large bowl with cold water. Squeeze in half the lemon (no pips). Put the apple slices in.
Step 3: Pop the bowl of apples in the microwave for three minutes, then strain the water out.
Step 4: Put the apricot jam in a bowl. Add two tablespoons of water. Microwave for one minute, then stir.
Step 5: Unroll the sheet of puff pastry. Roll it out lightly with a rolling pin. Cut it into six equal slices.
Step 6: Spread each slice of pastry with the jam, and then place the apple slices along the top, skin side up.
Step 7: Sprinkle with cinnamon, then fold over the remaining dough to cover the bottom half of the apples, and roll the pastry up to create an apple rose.
Step 8: Place the apple roses in a cupcake/ muffin baking tin and bake at 375F for 40 – 45 minutes.
